Clint joined our Fred family as our Senior Artworker a few weeks ago now so we have put him in the hot seat, here he has opened up about his journey to Fred and why he chose to join our team of creatives.
Tell us about your career path so far
I graduated at the University of Lincoln with a 2:1 in Graphic Design in 2005. My first job out of university was in Fraud Prevention – not quite the career path I was looking for. I enjoyed my time there, but my true passion was to work within a creative environment and I landed a role working for Bonhams Auctioneers in London as an Artworker. The vibrancy of the big City was amazing, but I knew I wanted to find a better work-life balance so I took a role more local to home.
It was here that I gained over 7 years’ experience as an artworker within the property industry and in an agency environment. My strong attention to detail coupled with being a stickler for following brand guidelines set me up well for a successful career – and I haven’t look back since.
What is your role at We Are Fred?
I am a Senior Artworker within Fred’s creative team. So far, the work has been really varied. From drawing up floorplans and siteplans, to working with the Account Managers on tight advertising and print deadlines, no two days are the same.
It has been great adapting to Fred’s way of working, it’s always good to see what other agencies are doing. I also feel that with my years of experience I can make some minor tweaks and make the role my own.
What attracted you to We Are Fred?
After Fred made the initial contact with me to discuss the role in more detail, I started looking into the company in more detail. The quality of work and clients they work for made a great impression on me – and I was intrigued to find out more.
After having met the Directors Nick and Clive, I was completely sold on their vision and growth plans for Fred. I felt that my experience, drive and skills could be integral to growing the artworking team and I was excited at the prospect of gaining more responsibility within my role – eventually growing and leading a successful team of artworkers in the future.
How have you found your first few weeks at Fred?
The team have been really welcoming and made the transition to a new role really enjoyable. We have been out on team socials and I have impressed with my biscuit selections and quiz mastering skills!
Of course, the current pandemic has changed things slightly – it is not quite how I expected to spend the first few months on the job! Not being in the office has been a challenge, but myself and the team catch up regularly over Zoom and everyone is being really supportive.
Where can we find you outside of office hours?
I am a cooking enthusiast, always trying new recipes and picking up some tips from Masterchef. I am also an avid cricket fan so you can usually catch me watching an hour or two. The rest of my time is usually spent with my wife and two children, as well as attending my local church.
